Librarians Recommend Children’s Book and Upcoming Events for July
Summer is the perfect time for kids to get caught up on book reading! Every month during the summer, the librarians at Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library will share their favorite children’s books and any great upcoming programs for kids. If you are looking for a “Cool Read” this summer, I recommend Greenglass House, by Kate Milford. This delightful and adventurous book will appeal to readers of all ages with its imaginative stories-within-the-story that add just the right touch of humor, suspense and surprises.
Twelve-year-old Milo is looking forward to a couple of weeks of quiet to share with his mom and dad over the Christmas break. They live at Greenglass house; a creaky old inn his family runs, isolated on top of a hill overlooking the town of Nagspeake. Milo feels his Christmas is ruined when an unexpected guest is followed by another, and another, and another… But his new friend Meddy has other ideas. Author Kate Milford cleverly supports this colorful cast of characters, including Greenglass House itself, with vivid details and depth that draws readers into a splendidly imaginative story.
Make sure you allow yourself some time, when you pick up this book, because you won’t want to put it down until it’s finished!
