July Events at Your Library

July is just about here as we get ready for the 4th with flag waving and fireworks, and the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Program is in full swing.  This year’s theme is A Universe of Stories.  The Summer Library Program began on Monday, June 10th and continues through Saturday, August 17th.  All the programs listed below are family friendly and absolutely FREE!

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Registration began Monday, June 10th and continues through Saturday, August 3rd

This 8-week reading incentive program requires each child that registers to complete a certain number of reading challenges based on their age/grade level.  The 8-weeks of the challenge is divided into 4 two-week sections.  When a child completes their section they will get a prize.  If a child completes all 4 sections, they will earn a free book.  Also, when a child completes a section they will receive a raffle ticket to enter into one of the several prize drawings.

STORY TIME!!  No registration is required…come when you can!

Every Monday in July, 10-10:30 am: Story time for all ages.

Every Friday in July, 10-10:30 am: Toddler story time.

TUESDAY NIGHT = FAMILY NIGHT AT THE LIBRARY!!

Tuesday, July 2nd, 6 pm – 7 pm: Storyteller Tracy Chipman in the JP Adler Family Room.  Ms. Chipman will be performing Under a Starry Sky – Tales of the Moon, the Sun & the Stars.  Explore the big beyond through the ancient art of storytelling.

Tuesday, July 9th, 6 pm – 7 pm: Kite Making in the JP Adler Family Room.  Each child participating will get their own kite to decorate and put together.  Come early as supplies are limited.

Tuesday, July 16th, 6 pm – 6:45 pm: It’s LEGO Night in the JP Adler Family Room.  Come and create with LEGOs.  The rule of the game is to use your imagination.  The library will provide the LEGOs.  Leave yours at home.  This is a family event.

Tuesday, July 23rd, 6 pm – 7:50 pm: Movie Night in the JP Adler Family Room.  Enjoy this remake about an elephant with big, flappy ears.

Tuesday, July 31st, 6 pm – 7 pm: Kathy McGrath “The Butterfly Lady” in the JP Adler Room.  This retired Kindergarten teacher shares her passion about butterflies, especially Monarchs.

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS!

Tail Waggin’ Tutors

Wednesday, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th, and July 31st from 1-2 pm

Kids can register to read to one of our lovable library dogs for 10 minutes.  This is also one of the Summer Reading Challenges a child can do.

 

Seeing Stars Portable Planetarium

Saturday, July 20th at 11 am & 1 pm – Wein Room at the 2nd Street Community Center

Paul Kinzer brings the nighttime into the day with this interactive program.  Paul will lead the children through an orientation outside of his Starlab Portable Planetarium dome, and then everyone crawls inside to the night sky.  Registration is required as there is a limit amount of space in the planetarium.  Not recommended for children who are afraid of the dark or of confined spaces.
