September Events at the Library

By Anna Linzmeier, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library Children’s Staff

Can you believe it? It is already September! School is starting and fall weather is approaching. Where did summer go? We had an AMAZING summer at the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library with our Summer Reading Program. We had over 1,000 children register and those kids read well over 16,000 hours…they almost read 17,000 hours!!

We at the Children’s Information Desk were privileged to hear lots of songs sung and watch lots of dances danced. We heard about favorite rock stars and favorite songs. We saw many beautiful rocks and heard about lots of vacations. We learned about many different books from many different kids. Some rock stars even came to visit us! (well, kids dressed like rock stars…)  GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED! Libraries really do ROCK!

Please join us for the following programs in September:
Tuesday, September 11 – LEGOS in the JP Adler Room (6:00-6:45 pm)
Saturday, September 15 – SIDEWALK CHALK at Hardacre Park (10:00-11:00am)

Don’t forget to find our weekly hidden picture to win a prize, make a guess in our monthly guessing game for a chance to win a prize, make a craft at our make-and-take craft table, and check out our weekly story times! We can’t wait to see you all again!

As summer winds down, I recommend you check out this favorite, final summertime read, Gone Away Lake, by Elizabeth Enright. It is the story of two children whose summer vacation is filled with new adventures, exciting discoveries, and memories that will last them a lifetime. Find it at your library, along with so many other great reads. Enjoy!
