Saturday at the Central WI State Fair – Sample Itinerary

Saturday at the Central WI State Fair

With the Central Wisconsin State Fair well underway, and with so much to explore, we wanted to help maximize your day at the fair. For those going on Saturday, here is your sample itinerary!

Begin the day with a delicious breakfast at the American Legion Post 54 (located in the area behind the grandstand seating). For just $7.00, enjoy a plate full of scrambled eggs, pork links, hash browns, and toast.

Next, check out the work of local talented youth in the Junior Fair Expo Building. Judging begins at 9:00am, if you are interested in viewing that process. Otherwise, stop back later to see who took home a shiny new ribbon.

At 10:00am, the Youth Pepsi Draft Horse Show will take place at the horse arena. Watch for a while and then take a few minutes to visit the many animals at the fair, scattered throughout the various barns and buildings.

New this year, at 11:00am, is the Round Barn Brush Pull, which features different classes including the farm tractor class, 2.5 diesel truck, stock gas truck, and single turbo tractor open class. If you’re seeking more comedy than machinery, visit the Family Entertainment Tent to laugh along with comedy magician Jerry Frazier (also beginning at 11:00am).

Grab some lunch- can’t forget that famous Fair food! Gyros, corn dogs, walking tacos, cheese curds, cotton candy, ice cream…the list goes on and on.

Let your stomach settle over the noon hour, which features “Duelly Noted,” dueling piano players (also in the Family Entertainment Tent), or check out rabbit judging at the Small Animal Building.

It wouldn’t be the Fair without rides, and Saturday is Kid’s Day on the Midway. Tickets for rides are $10/20 tickets from noon-close. Take a spin on the ferris wheel, whip around the tilt-a-whirl, or ride the carousel…or something more adventurous if you’re feeling brave!

At 2:00pm, build a crown with the Fairest of the Fair in the Ice Arena.

If you want to take a break and take in the sights, catch a ride on the Round Barn Express.

Once you’ve got your energy back, Hiller’s inflatables Bounce Park is a fun option for the kids.

Next, it’s time for another round of fair food! Don’t miss those cream puffs, sno-cones, or Farm Bureau ice cream! While enjoying your dessert, wander through some of the building displays and meet the exhibitors.

This year is an important anniversary for the fairgrounds, as the World’s Largest Round Barn celebrates 100 years as a Marshfield treasure. Take some time to soak in the amazing history exhibit, located in the Expo II Building. Gain a new appreciation for the Fair and its past, as well as learn about the surrounding area and its history.

IMG_4173Grab some Kettle Korn and check out the NTPA Truck & Tractor Pull at 7:30pm, always a popular event. Finish the night with Rising Phoenix, a 70s/80s rock band (in the Family Entertainment Tent).

Drive home safely and be sure to let us know how your day went!
