Marshfield Area Community Foundation – Hardacre Park

Marilyn Hardacre Integral to Starting Community Foundation

The Marshfield Area community Foundation was the fiscal agent for the new Marilyn Hardacre Park. It  was funded with private donations and $25,000 from the city.  The park was inaugurated on October 15, 2015 and is now open for the public to enjoy.  This park features  music in conjunction with Main Street Marshfield and is a great addition to our downtown.  It honors a wonderful woman, Marilyn Hardacre, who has so much for our community here in Marshfield.  Marilyn was integral in starting the Community Foundation.

In 1993 Anne and Bette Adler came to Marilyn with $25,000 asking her for help to establish a community foundation in Marshfield. They challenged her to do so, or they’d take their money to Milwaukee. She found volunteers for the first board, a matching donor, office space, and served as the Board Secretary.  Marilyn has also served as the Mayor of Marshfield, and is credited with bringing many of the paved streets and sidewalks as well as the new Highway 10 to Marshfield.  She helped with fund raising for the Hope Lodge, House of the Dove, the YMCA, the Everett Roehl Public Library, and many other projects in Marshfield.

“Not only is this a tribute to Marilyn. This is a beautiful piece of art and green space on our downtown, said Paul Rogers, the driving force of the project.

A tax exempt, non-profit organization, MACF uses public support to better connect those with a cause in mind to its completion while taking care of administrative tasks, and continues to establish permanent, named funds for public benefit.
