Venture Downtown with ‘Your Thursdays’

Main Street Program Makes Shopping More Accessible, Brings Music Downtown

Downtown Marshfield will soon be the place to be when a new program called “Your Thursdays” launches April 5.

Participating businesses, marked with a golden tassel on the doorknob, will be open until at least 7:30 p.m. each Thursday throughout the year. “Our businesses want to serve customers that may not be able to make normal business hours,” said Kaelie Gomez, Executive Director of Main Street Marshfield. “We also want to showcase what each business is doing creatively inside their store or restaurant.”

Thursdays will also feature special deals, demos, workshops, and more. “This is really about what the businesses are passionate about, and doing something special to showcase their business,“ said Gomez. “The customer that comes in Wednesday will see something new on Thursdays.”

The promotion is separate from “Third Thursdays,” a primarily warm-weather series which attracted music and food vendors every third Thursday of the month in previous years. “Your Thursdays” is a customer-focused shopping day that allows shoppers to get to know local business owners and kick off the weekend throughout the whole year, said Gomez.

“It’s one more thing that showcases downtown as the heart of our city,” she said. “If you’re looking for a date night or the opportunity to shop at your favorite downtown stores, you can do it during the week.”

Promotions so far include Thursday deals from Nutz Deep II and a vendor visit or product launch every third Thursday of the month. Gypsy Gems will have specials and offer mixed drinks every third Thursday. Other businesses may do activities like face painting or provide more options for live music.

Main Street Marshfield is also expanding into the weekend. Hardacre Park will again come to life as a place for live music with concerts every other Friday night. These concerts will be free to the public, thanks to funding from the Marshfield Area Community Foundation. The first park concert will be June 8, and details will be posted to the Main Street Marshfield website and Facebook page closer to the time. Vendors and peddlers interested in setting up during the concerts should contact Main Street Marshfield.

Main Street Marshfield has also partnered with the Chestnut Center for the Arts to provide live music downtown every Friday night. The center will continue its Friday night concert series into summer. Each concert has a $5 suggested donation and a cash bar. Details will be posted to the Chestnut Center’s Facebook page.
