Where to Go on Valentine’s Day in Marshfield

Marshfield Area Dining and Entertainment on Valentine’s Day

There are plenty of local options to spoil a sweetheart this year during Valentine’s Day in Marshfield. Whether you prefer to do the classic dinner date, sample some fine wine, tap into your musical side or enjoy time with your kiddos, Marshfield has something to offer this year. (And don’t forget our gift ideas here and here!)

One of the most classic choices for Valentine’s Day is to treat your sweetheart to a special meal. Scott Kleinschmidt, Food and Beverage Director at the Holiday Inn, thinks dinner is the way to go.

You should take your sweetheart out to dinner “to show them they are the center of attention. Let us worry about the food preparation, serving, clean up and all the other distractions that come with home cooking,” he said.

He hopes people choose the Rivers Tavern, located in the Holiday Inn, this Valentine’s Day, for where they will have a dry aged sirloin steak and shrimp special among other offerings.

“We are the best kept secret in town. Our chefs prepare high-quality entrees, with service that will impress, and a gift for each special lady,” Kleinschmidt said.

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday, so many local businesses and groups are offering Valentine’s themed options the weekend before the actual holiday.

For the musically inclined, the UW-Marshfield/Wood County Symphonic Band is hosting their Valentine’s Concert this Friday.

There are few combinations more suited than romance and wine, so Market On Sixth is hosting a Valentine’s Day wine tasting.

The holiday has even coaxed a new business into town. The Fun Factory Shoppe, a specialty chocolate shop has opened up a pop up shop on Main Street so that locals can buy some quality sweet treats for their loved ones.

Main Street Marshfield Executive Director Angie Eloranta is excited for people to check out their business.

“The Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe is an established business in Rhinelander and there have been many conversations over the past few years with Main Street and the City about making Marshfield a second location,” she said. “This weekend will give them a chance to meet the residents of Marshfield, interact with them, and get a feel for the market. I think it’s important that anyone who would love to see a chocolate specialty shop in the downtown goes out and communicates that with the business.”

Maybe it’s not romantic time with your significant other, but quality time with your kids you are seeking this Valentine’s Day. There are a couple options this weekend also, including a Valentine’s craft night and a “craft and splash” event at the Marshfield Clinic Health Systems YMCA.
