Where to get Flowers in Marshfield

Valentines Flowers

Beautiful Flowers & Arrangements Available Locally

For many, one of the bright spots in the dreariness of Wisconsin winters is Valentine’s Day. While deemed a “Hallmark Holiday” by some, it can be a terrific time to spoil a loved one or even show appreciation for good friends. Often, it is nice to gift a classic, like Valentine flowers.

Locally, there are a couple of options for those looking to spoil their Valentine, including two florists: Hefko Floral Company and Illusions & Design (Formerly Spring Green and recently moved downtown), and two grocery stores that have nice flower options.

Seth Koenig, President of Hefko Floral Company, is a big fan of choosing flowers for a Valentine.

“Flowers are absolutely the most romantic gift you can give a loved one!” he said. “There’s nothing practical about flowers. They eventually fade away. But, when you give someone flowers, you’re expressing that your love for them goes beyond just the rational or practical.”

“Love is an irrational emotion. So, in a sense what you’re doing when you send flowers is commissioning a temporary work of art as a symbol of your feelings toward them. I can’t think of anything more romantic than that,” he said.

He has a couple of tips for those that are looking to present a bouquet on Valentine’s Day.

  1. Incorporate your sweetheart’s favorite color because it makes the gift seem even more thoughtful.
  2. Place your order early. This way you have more options to choose from and you will make sure it is delivered when you want it.
  3. It’s ok to have a variety of flowers, not just roses. Oftentimes it adds more visual interest to the bouquet.
  4. Pair the flowers with something sweet like candy or chocolate, that way there is a treat for the eyes and the tastebuds.
  5. If you don’t know, just ask the florist for advice. They will have lots of helpful suggestions if you just don’t know where to start.

While it is a very busy time of the year in his business, Koenig is still looking forward to the holiday.

“I love Valentine’s Day!” he said. “It’s definitely challenging, logistically speaking, but we’ve done it for so many years that we know how to prepare for it. It’s all about planning. This is our 105th Valentine’s Day! Once the big day gets here, the bustle around the flower shop really is incredible.”

Those that choose to order a delivery from Hefko Floral Company are also donating to a good cause.

“The vast majority of our deliveries are made by volunteers from the Eagles Club,” said Koenig. “For each delivery they make, the vast majority of the delivery fee is donated to the Eagles Club charities.”

“For Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, those volunteers raise a lot of money for a really good organization,” he added. “The Eagles Club charities raise money for diabetes research, dental health for the needy, scholarships, and the Special Olympics, among others really good causes. We’re very happy we can work with them.”
