Putts Fore Pets Golf Scramble to Benefit Marshfield Area Pet Shelter

New Fundraiser Helps Support Local Pets

Explore — A new fundraiser for Marshfield Area Pet Shelter will take place on Friday, August 17. The 18-hole, 4-person/team golf scramble in memory of Tom Brockman will take place at Marshfield Country Club, 11426 Wren Rd, Marshfield.

“MAPS is hosting the Putts Fore Pets Golf Outing to honor our friend Tom Brockman, who was a golf pro at Marshfield Country Club. He passed away unexpectedly in October 2015, ” said Dianne Schalow – Board of Directors Secretary and dedicated volunteer for the animals. “MAPS is a non-profit organization and over 85% of our income depends on public donations and our fundraisers. We are raising funds to help hundreds of animals in our community, a cause Tom was very passionate about.”

In the summer of 2014, Tom held his own fundraiser for MAPS. He golfed 111 holes, with pledges from friends and golfers, to raise money for MAPS. He also attended many MAPS fundraisers to support the organization, and the work they do with animals.

“Tom was an avid animal lover who found a great way to show his love for animals. He even attended a dinner held by MAPS a week or so before he died,” said Schalow. “He was a friend of Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, and when we decided that we wanted to do a golf outing, we felt that we wanted to honor our friend. Tom is sorely missed by many of the people who knew him. We want other people to also remember him, and what better way than to ask people to golf with us?”

Schalow added that all are welcome to attend in memory of Tom, who was a friend to many golfers and animal lovers.

“Tom wanted to do everything in his power to help his students and other golfers. He also wanted to help a cause that he thought was doing a great job for the community. People (even non-golfers) who want to have a good time, learn about Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, and get to know some great people who work with the animals in Marshfield, should attend,” she said. “Anyone who just wants to golf on a Friday morning in August should attend.”

Cost to participate is $75 per person, and includes 18 holes with cart, lunch and prizes.
