Oktoberfest Moves to Wenzel Family Plaza

Root Beer Garden for the Kids

Marshfield celebrates its cultural roots when Oktoberfest returns September 8, this time in the newly-opened Wenzel Family Plaza.

Bavarian or not, Oktoberfest is an event for the whole family with live music, food and beverages, and family activities from midday to night. Admission is $5, free to kids 12 and under, and adults over 60.

Live music begins at 11:30 with Music Magic band followed by Foxfire Affair at 1 p.m. and Midrange at 2:30 p.m. Husky Trumpet will take the stage at 5 p.m. with Grammy nominated Bluegrass band Monroe Crossing ending the festivities at 7:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and set up in the grassy area in front of the performance stage to enjoy the music.

Those underage can still get into the spirit of Oktoberfest from 11-7 p.m. at the Root Beer Garden by Hiller’s True Value, to be located near the middle entrance on Chestnut Avenue. The half dozen ice cream flavors including classic vanilla are available for refreshing root beer floats or enjoyed on their own.

Nearby will be an Art Corner provided by Chestnut Center for the Arts where kids can make creative projects for free. Families will also enjoy yard games such as cornhole and a giant Jenga set.
