Each September, a special kind of brew returns to the shelves at Festival Foods: Oktoberfest beers!
“They are traditionally brewed in Germany during March (that’s where the name Marzen-style beer comes from) and then left to age until mid-September. In America, however, they are a different style of beer,” said Logan Bottlemy, Wine and Spirits Manager.
“Similar to a lager, they have different characteristics. However, as they take on a reddish/orange color, they also take on a sweet flavor — Great for serving at your Oktoberfest party!”
Currently in stock are the following Oktoberfest beers, with a few tasting notes:
-New Glarus Staghorn: Heavy, dark malty flavor with a buttery mouth feel
-Lienenkugel’s Oktoberfest: Easy to drink, smooth, light malt flavor
-O’so “O-toberfest”: Similar to Octillion, Light, smooth, and pleasant flavor.
