Louie Rivers Cabin Under Construction at History Museum

Marshfield Museum Recreates First Marshfield Structure

Built in 1872, Louie Rivers’ Cabin was the first structure erected in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Designed as a motel for lumberman and others traveling the frequent route across the state, the cabin was a cozy log structure complete with a loft. Though only a historical record of the site exists today, local historians are recreating the cabin in a special museum exhibit.

Located in the basement of the former Marshfield Public Library facility, the “Lest We Forget Military Museum” is currently expanding to include a Marshfield History Museum, and expects to open after the new Community Center is complete. Learn about the cabin and the museum in this video.
