Library Offers Free Hats and Gloves to Help Residents Battle Cold

Did the cold weather catch you unprepared?

Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library decided to help others stay as warm as possible by putting out a display of free hats, mittens, gloves and scarves on Wednesday for those who need them or simply forgot their own at home.

The items came from donations or were picked up at sales, and staff waited for the right cold day to place them out, said Lori Belongia, Library Director.

The library will close 5 p.m. on Wednesday due to the extreme temperatures. Though not officially designated as a warming shelter, the public can drop by to warm up with a good book.

Those who need a coat can find a rack in downtown Marshfield outside The Next Generation Midwest Tattooers.
