Full Capacity at Marshfield Area Pet Shelter

Spay and Neuter to Prevent Overpopulation

Cassi Shook, Submitted Piece – Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS) takes in animals from the city of Marshfield and surrounding areas. We are a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter with two locations. One is the intake facility on W. 29th Street near the airport, and the other is our adoption center within the Marshfield Mall.

Currently, MAPS is at full capacity. However, we are still taking in animals depending on the situation. We recently had to send some of our animals to another shelter near Milwaukee to help create space within both the intake facility and adoption center.

Before MAPS said goodbye to the animals that were to be sent to their new shelter, the intake facility placed cats ready for adoption within their meet-and-greet room, but there was no space at the adoption center for them. MAPS decided it was the best chance of the animals getting adopted if they were sent to another shelter that had the space and was willing to take them in.

With kitten season still around, MAPS urges the public to spay or neuter pets to help curb the stray animal populations. Not only is it good for keeping the amount of strays down, but it is also better for your pet’s health in the long run.

Don’t forget to come and visit our adoption center in the Marshfield Mall and see all of our lovable and adorable cats. Also feel free to check out our website, www.marshfieldpetshelter.org, to see what other animals we have available, and follow us on Facebook.
