Festival Foods Farmers Market Supports Local Growers

The Festival Foods Farmers Market is Marshfield’s weekend market, running mornings from Memorial weekend to the last weekend in October. At peak time, it can host as many as 70 vendors selling home-grown produce, sourced within a hundred mile radius from family farms.

“We give our guests another opportunity to help the community help these small farms,” said Joe Neville, Bakery Manager. “A lot of our vendors are just local people who love or have a passion to grow produce.”

He said that guests love having the options provided by the market, which besides selling seasonal produce, offers flowers, jams, syrup food, original arts and crafts, and even eggs. Vendors often see repeat customers through the years, and are open to explaining the source of their products and how they got into farming.

“They’re gifted at their craft,” Neville noted.

Those who stop by the market can grab a meal at a food vendor such as Razor J’s, offering burgers, cheese curds, french fries, and popcorn.

“I like that we have people that ask for it every week,” said owner Jay Harwood. “It’s really nice to be able to have a product and produce a product that people are excited about and look forward to. It’s pretty gracious of Festival Foods to have the market for us to use.”

Festival Foods doesn’t charge a fee for qualified vendors to use the space, another way to support local growers. “We just want to do something for the community for those farmers,” explained Neville. “I really enjoy watching our market grow and giving the opportunity for our guests to experience something different.”

To visit the market, stop by the Festival Foods parking lot from 8-1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
