It’s St. Patrick’s Day, which means it’s time to get your green and sham-rock like you’re Irish. Though probably more known for its German heritage, when March 17 rolls around, residents of the Marshfield area know how to celebrate.

One popular party spot on St. Patrick’s Day is the Blue Heron Brew Pub, located at 108 W 9th Street in the historic Parkin Place building.

St. Patty’s Day food specials are designed to honor the Irish, and include beef stew with soda bread, “Irish Flag” salad, the “Frisky Leprechaun” sandwich, and of course...Corn Beef & Cabbage. For drinks, there is “The Angry Leprechaun” (Long Island Iced Tea with orange juice) and the famous green beer (which is the Brew Pub’s homebrewed Honey Blonde with green dye).

“One of our bartenders came up with the specials for today,” said Danielle Nystrom, restaurant manager.

“It’s just a fun day to celebrate,” she added, explaining that the Brew Pub has always enjoyed doing something special on St. Patrick’s Day. “We always get t-shirts for our employees and it’s kind of a fun day for everyone to come out.”

With March Madness games featured on the various television screens around the bar and delicious Irish food on the menu, it won’t take the luck of the Irish to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day at the Brew Pub.

“We were pretty busy at lunch today and I think tonight will be busy, too,” said Nystrom.

Carry-out service is available, but for the full pub experience, stop down tonight before 9:30pm.
