Women Helping Out (WHO) to Host Annual Golf Outing

Annual Golf Event Benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters

Women Helping Out (WHO) is set to host their 20th annual 18-hole golf scramble at RiverEdge Golf Course on Tuesday, July 25th. Benefitting from the event this year is Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Wood County. Singles, twosomes, and foursome teams are able to sign up.

Whether a skilled golfer or beginner, all women are welcome to play. It is an enjoyable day with a great cause receiving proceeds. The Team Scramble format allows everyone to contribute to the team’s score. Other activities occurring throughout the day include: a golf activity bundle, river shoot, putting contest, hole prizes, 50/50 raffle, basket raffles and much more.

Since 1998, WHO has organized a golf outing with the help of women in the Marshfield area who wish to better the lives of other women and families. One hundred percent of the profits will benefit BBBS of Wood County. WHO has successfully raised more than $65,000 in the previous years including $11,000 last year for Opportunity Development Centers.

Cost is $60 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf, prizes and a luncheon. Corporate hole sponsorships are available for $50 – $200 each. Additional monetary donations can be made out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County.

“It is such a blessing to have the community support from such a well established group of women. The influence they are willing to contribute to the children in our program is outstanding. They are an inspiration to our community especially to the children because it shows them the difference a group of people can do to help others,” said Heidi Goblirsch, Executive Director of BBBS of Wood County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national organization with a local branch in Marshfield. It is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that serves Wood and Clark Counties. With currently over 30 active matches, BBBS seeks to change children’s lives by providing one on one support through enrichment activities.

“I am so grateful for the continued support our agency has received through the community,” said Goblirsch. “The WHO golf outing is celebrating its 20th year and we are celebrating our 50th year, which is amazing we both have major milestones and can work together to celebrate the success together!”

Said Goblirsch on what the donated monies will be used for, “BBBS is a partner program of the United Way but diversifying our revenue from other sources has been key to our success in building stability. The funds will help run our program because it is free to the children and volunteers that participate in it.”
