Since 2010, the nationwide movement Small Business Saturday on November 24 has encouraged community shoppers fresh off Black Friday deals to support local businesses as well.
Downtown Marshfield will be the place to have lots of fun walking from store to store in search of that perfect gift and special deal. Businesses will be handing out free totes.
The Main Street Holiday Market pop-up shop featuring local artisans provides another excuse to get in on the festivities. “It’s an additional place to shop and expose people to another group of folks in our community that are doing wonderful things,” said Executive Director Kaelie Gomez, Main Street Marshfield.
Located at 401 S. Central, the Holiday Market will include beauty and cosmetic items by The Soap Shed, garden items and workshops by Mill Creek Gardens, and handmade decor by ConstructInvo. Warm up with coffee and tea. The Holiday Market will debut starting 9-4 p.m. on November 24 and will be open at certain hours Thursday-Saturday until December 22. All times can be found at the market’s Facebook page at this link.
From 6-9 p.m., finish up a busy day at the Hardacre Park bonfire to enjoy free s’mores, a story by Tracy Chipman at 6, and live music by Foxfire Affair at 7. “It’s a way to relax after you’re done shopping dining with your family and friends, and unwind,” said Gomez.
Ultimately, shopping small is a great way to make a direct difference in the community.
“We encourage you to check it out!” she said.
