Explore Marshfield – Nutz Deep II Celebrates Anniversary

Marshfield’s popular bar and grill Nutz Deep II will celebrate their 35th anniversary with a Customer Appreciation Party on Sunday, October 2 from 2:00-5:00pm.

nutzdeepii80sNutz Deep II originated as “Buzz and Rita’s,” and was purchased in 1982 by its current owner Dewey Schutz from Buzz and Rita Pansky. After many name changes and renovations, Nutz Deep II was formed.

“It was known then as the ‘corner watering hole’ and a place to go to socialize,” said Ann Dieringer, Marketing and Promotions Coordinator at Nutz Deep II. “In the early days we were known as a ‘shot and beer bar’ catering to our everyday bar customers; however, we’ve made some major changes in past years.”

For example, when the City of Marshfield enforced the smoking ban, Nutz adapted by offering a full service restaurant menu and adding an additional twenty domestic and specialty beers on tap.

“Nutz Deep II is family owned and operated business that caters to all types of people,” she said. “We are the perfect venue for happy hour, late night drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, socializing, billiards, and watching your favorite sports team.”

nutzdeepii80s2Dieringer is proud of Nutz’ involvement with many community events and organizations, and she also enjoys serving the community great food.

“Not only do we have a catchy name that piques the interest of those driving by, but Nutz Deep II is known for having the best burger around,” she said. “We provide great customer service, exceptional food and a clean and inviting atmosphere.”

Dieringer encourages everyone to help celebrate Nutz’ 35 year anniversary on October 2, which will feature live music, prizes, the new menu launch, and a special 1982-priced menu from 2:00-5:00pm.

“People should come check out the event because of the live music and great priced food and drinks ($.62 domestic tap beer and $1.04 single mixers, $1.66 cheese curds),” she said.

The Nutz Deep II family is excited for the next 35 years of business, with the goal of Dewey and Lisa Schutz, the current owners, being to pass down the business to their children (Ann and her brother, Andy). According to Dieringer, there may be another expansion or location in the future as well.

Whatever the future holds for Nutz Deep II, Dieringer credits its current success to the customers.

“We would really like to thank all of our customers throughout the years because without them we would never be as successful as we are,” she said. “Thank you for choosing us for your go-to place in Marshfield!”
