UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield is holding an Alzheimer’s Talk featuring former Wisconsin
Governor and author of “My Two Elaines,” Martin Schreiber. The talk will take place on Thursday, October 10, 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Schreiber saw his beloved wife, Elaine, gradually transform from the woman who had gracefully entertained in the executive residence to one who sometimes no longer recognizes him as her husband.
In his book, “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver,” Schreiber candidly counsels those taking on the caregiving role.
Schreiber will share his struggles in caring for his wife and offer sage advice that respects the one with Alzheimer’s and the importance of maintaining the caregiver’s health. With patience, adaptability, and even a sense of humor, Schreiber shows how his love continues for his “second Elaine.”
The program includes hors d’oeuvres and presentation. Registration is free for Passion for Adult Learning (PAL) members and one guest. Non-member fee is $25. PAL is a lifelong learning organization for individuals aged 55 and older.
