Marshfield Offers Many Fitness Options

Easily Incorporate Fitness Into Your Lifestyle in 2017 with These Local Options

After the excitement and extravagance of the holidays wraps up, many people start to think about ways to bring more fitness into their lives.

Local Ann Dieringer, who is both a small business owner and certified personal trainer, completely agrees.

“At the beginning of each new year, one is able to start fresh and take the opportunity to achieve a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle,” she said.

Because beginning any kind of new lifestyle or fitness regime can be intimidating to most people, Dieringer said the secret is to take the change in small, manageable steps.

“In the beginning, you want to start slow. Remember, the goal is to get in the habit of doing the workouts, not to do intense workouts,” she said.

But that can be a little counterintuitive to the passionate, “gung-ho” attitude many people have at the beginning of their new fitness journey.

“The typical approach is to go from sitting on the couch to doing an extremely intense workout 6 days per week, but you want your workouts to be easy and progress in your program so you create the habit and stick to your schedule,” Dieringer said.

While many people think the purpose of fitness is always weight loss or “looking fit,” Dieringer doesn’t think that is the whole picture.

“Exercise is extremely important to staying healthy both in body and mind. Being active can help a person continue to do things they enjoy and be independent as they age. Long-term physical activity increases the benefits of long-term health,” she said.

“For me, fitness is not just a way to stay in shape, it’s a way to find peace and maintain mental sanity. When I engage in physical activities, I feel happier and more energized for my day-to-day routine. In addition to keeping off the extra pounds, living a healthy lifestyle allows me to feel about good about myself and helps others stay motivated and inspired,” Dieringer said.

Dieringer thinks Marshfield has many great choices for staying fit.

“There are so many options in Marshfield to start your health and wellness journey. From gym to in-home training, there is something for everybody,” she said, adding that she is most inspired by group fitness.

“I am a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and online health and wellness coach. I offer large and small group classes that are targeted to all fitness levels. I specialize in boot camps, metabolic conditioning and interval training (HIIT, Tabata, etc.),” she said.

“My goal is to help my clients make a total lifestyle change and create long-lasting healthy habits while motivating and inspiring them to be the best they can be,” she said.

Dieringer said she discovered her passion for physical fitness in Marshfield.

“I was born and raised in Marshfield and have always been interested in physical activities and staying in shape. From snowboarding to basketball and volleyball, I learned at an early age the importance of exercise and healthy eating,” she said.

She began her own small business, The Fitness Belle, that specializes in group fitness.

While exercise is a major component of overall fitness, Dieringer believes eating is also a huge component.

“What you eat has a profound effect on your overall wellness. Eating well is arguably the single most important thing you can do for your body and long-term health. Your diet is key to keeping a healthy weight as the old saying goes ‘you can never out exercise your fork, ‘”Dieringer said.

She added that clean eating should be a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. “To begin, you should eat more natural, whole foods, and less junk (processed foods, fried foods, treats and drinks loaded with sugar),” she said.

“My vision is to help transform the way people think, feel, and act about fitness & nutrition. It is an amazing feeling to help people get physically fit and feeling better about themselves! Be positive, have a dream, believe in yourself,” Dieringer said.
