Historic Street Banquet Returns Friday

In downtown Marshfield 101 years ago, a street banquet was held for Company “A”, Second Regiment, Wisconsin National Guard, after they were called for active duty.

Last year, Main Street Marshfield commemorated the 100th anniversary by re-creating the “A” table formation shown in photos of the event. Due to the success of the Historic Street Banquet, which drew 100 people, it will return this Friday, July 27, starting 6:30 p.m. to downtown Marshfield.

“It’s an event that points directly back to downtown

history,” said Kaelie Gomez, Executive Director of Main Street Marshfield. “We see a lot of veterans coming out to enjoy a meal downtown on the closed off street – just like service members did 100 years ago.”

The spaghetti bar is hosted by the Rivers Tavern with fresh flowers from Mill Creek Gardens. Tables will be in normal formation this year. There will be time to stroll Central Avenue and learn more about the Honor Walk banners, which recognize local veterans.

Tickets can be purchased online by Thursday at this link or at the door. They are $10, or $8 for veterans and families with early entrance at 6 p.m.
