Fundraiser to Help with Proposed Cougar Exhibit & Restroom Projects

“Wild 4 Cats” Fundraiser to Help Wildwood Zoo

Wildwood Park & Zoo has had an exciting couple of years with the addition of the new Kodiak Bear Exhibit, new wolves, zoo store development, and other improvements. Next on the list is upgrades to the Cougar Exhibit and public restrooms, both desperately needed by the facility.

“Parks and Recreation staff and the Zoological Society Board are very excited about the possibility of upgrades to the Cougar Exhibit,” said zookeeper Steve Burns. “We are in the very early stages of planning. At this time there is not a design or cost estimate for the project.”

This weekend provides a fun way to help raise funds for the proposed cougar habitat and restroom project, through the “Wild 4 Cats” Bowling Party at Rose Bowl Lanes. Sponsored by Shaw’s Wrecking Yard LLC, the event begins at 11:00am with a “tail”gate party and is followed by bowling at noon.

Included with the event is 9-pin tap bowling with color pin prizes, 50/50 and prize raffles, Chinese raffle, and contests.

Cost is $80 per lane, which includes 3 hours of bowling, shoes, and tailgate party (max 6 per lane).

“The best way to get involved at this point is to support the Wild 4 Cats fundraiser the Zoological Society is hosting at Rose Bowl Lanes on Dec. 11th,” said Burns. “The Parks and Recreation Department and Zoological Society hope to make a more formal unveiling of the project and kick off a fundraising campaign sometime next year. As always the Parks and Recreation Department appreciates the continued support from our Citizens.”
