Celebrate National Taco Day in Marshfield
The taco is a great lunch or dinner option.
First of all, it is super affordable. Most basic tacos cost in the $1.50 range. It is also very customizable, so it usually pleases most of the people in your family or group.
And there are several good places to get a taco in town! So as an ode to National Taco Day, Explorers, we have provided some info so that you can make an informed decision and then go get your taco on! We even sacrificed and taste-tested a taco from each location to give you our opinion.
Now, because as we noted above, there are so many varieties: (Chicken, beef, soft, hard, specialty tacos) we are going to give you a price comparison of the basic taco as we see it: The hard-shelled beef taco.
El Mezcal, 2312 N. Central Ave:
Basic Taco: Crunchy shell, ground beef, shaved lettuce, shredded cheese
Cost: $1.85
Best overall value: This taco had the most fillings and best ratio of any of the tacos we tried. It was overflowing with meat and cheese and just a little bit of lettuce for crunch.
National Taco Day Special: Regular tacos will be $1.25. Steak tacos or grilled chicken tacos will be $1.85.
Taqueria El Sol, 1705 S. Central Ave:
Basic Taco: Crunchy shell, ground beef, onion, cilantro and lettuce and tomato
Cost: $2.25
Best overall flavor: This was the most expensive of our choices, but boy did it have awesome texture and flavor. My mouth waters just thinking about it…I don’t know what they do with these basic ingredients but it was super tasty. I didn’t even miss the cheese.
Taco Bell, 1410 N. Central Ave:
Basic Taco: Crunch Taco that includes ground beef, shredded lettuce and cheese.
Cost: $1.29
Crunchiest: This taco had the best crunch of all the tacos we tried.
Taco Johns, 813 N. Central Ave:
Basic Taco: Crispy Taco includes hard shell, ground beef, shredded lettuce, cheese and a little bit of mild sauce
Cost: $1.24
Least expensive: This was the most inexpensive of the tacos we tried. It was also very tasty. Very comparable to the taco from Taco Bell but just a little less crunch.
National Taco Day Special: They are turning Taco Day into a week. Oct 3-9 if you use the Taco John’s app and invite a friend you can get a free taco for yourself and the friend. For more information, check out their website.
