Salvation Army Red Kettle Helps Curb Homelessness
Ring a bell for a good cause this season by signing up for a Red Kettle shift or making a donation during your shopping trip. Proceeds from the annual Salvation Army campaign help curb homelessness in the Marshfield area through the North Central Community Action Program and St. Vincent de Paul.
Festival Foods is one of five locations in Marshfield that hosts bell ringers. “Between the stores, we really work to raise as much funds as we can,” said Holly Thomas, Front End Manager.
The store sees a dedicated group of bell ringers fill up shifts during the day at the store and provides everything they need to get started. During a slow period if there are no ringers, Festival will ask an associate to fill in.
Besides tossing in change, Festival Foods provides an easy giving option while checking out. Guests can ask the cashier to scan the $1 or $5 cards located at the register as another way to donate to the Salvation Army. Associates will begin letting guests know about this option in December.
“Actively asking during that month helps to grow awareness. Actually being asked, a lot of people are like yes, I’d like to donate,” said Thomas. Donations at the register and Red Kettle both go to the same cause.
