Marshfield Area Community Foundation: Steve J. Miller Recreation Area

In January of 2005, Jon Scheuer and Marsh-21 set up a new fund to support youth
baseball here in Marshfield. Tax-deductible donations were accepted to provide funding to purchase enhancements to Graham Olson East and West Little League fields and Arthur J. Reeths multi-purpose intermediate-sized softball and baseball field.

Marsh-21 worked closely with the Recreation Department in the city of Marshfield to identify the amenities that could be paid for with private donations. Over the years, the park has continued to be improved with fencing, dugouts, batting cages, and scoreboards. These fields allowed Little Leagues to rebound here in Marshfield.

The complex on Oak Street has become a gem here in Marshfield for baseball players of all ages.

The Steve J. Miller Recreation Area is another addition to MACF’s long list of contributions to the community, which include Wildwood Station, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, Hackman Field, Weber Park, Hamus Park, Hardacre Park, Braem Park Disk Golf, the Skate Park, Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center, the ACE Academy, Griese Park, and many, many more.

A tax exempt, non-profit organization, MACF uses public support to better connect those with a cause in mind to its completion while taking care of administrative tasks, and continues to establish permanent, named funds for public benefit.
