Summer Book Recommendations and June Events at Marshfield Public Library

Librarians Recommend Children’s Book and Upcoming Events for June

Summer is the perfect time for kids to get caught up on book reading! Every month during the summer, the librarians at Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library will share their favorite children’s books and any great upcoming programs for kids. In June, the Summer Reading Program is underway with a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.

by Sara Bartkowiak – Children’s Information Desk Staff – The Children’s Department at the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library is ready to ROCK this summer! Our Summer Reading Program’s theme is “Libraries Rock,” and we have a summer of music, hands-on rock exploration, and fantastic performers planned for everyone to enjoy.

Sign-up for the program begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 4. If you sign up the first week of registration, your family will be entered in a “Family Fun Drawing” that will be drawn on Monday, June 11. Being part of the Summer Reading Program also means you are eligible for prizes! The Children’s Department is happy to be partnering with many local businesses again this year to offer coupons for FREE STUFF to all participants. Entry slips for larger prize drawings are also incentives to readers who read above 10 hours. So the more you read, the more you can win!

Also sign up for the coloring contest along with the reading program: ages 5-8 also have the chance to win a fair pass and t-shirt. Find more information here.

What better way to feel involved in the Summer Reading Program than to check out some great books that ROCK? Join Pete the Cat as he sings his favorite song in the book, Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes. Pete can make any day at school a fun one! Or join Little Critter as he decides to play the drums in, Just A Little Music. Stop by the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library for many more books about music, or anything else you can imagine!

This month, join the drum circle on June 19 at 6:30 p.m. Drumming is the perfect activity for kids and releases pent-up energy!
