Central Wisconsin Coin a Hidden Gem in Downtown Marshfield

“People don’t realize what’s in here.”

Central Wisconsin Coin in downtown Marshfield is a hidden gem. Behind an unassuming storefront is a downtown treasure trove of antiques, jewelry, and more.

Tom and Carol Steinmetz first brought the business to the downtown in the 1970’s, moving to the current location in 1998.

Longtime employees Patty and Jana operate the business day-to-day and have a passion for their work.

“I like to watch everyone’s reactions when they first come in,” said Patty. “People don’t realize what’s in here.”

Whether looking to buy or sell, Patty and Jana have decades of industry experience. Visitors come in to shop for antiques, vintage furniture, prints, fine and costume jewelry, and they also buy and sell gold and silver bullion.

Inventory is constantly changing, so every visit is a new experience. Anyone can bring in antiques, coins, or jewelry and receive an offer.

Patty’s interest in the field grew from her personal experience frequenting thrift stores and estate sales. Transforming her hobby into her day job is something she has enjoyed.

“There is no other store like this around,” she said.
