Wildwood Zoo to Host Trick or Treating Event

Popular Event Features Games, Train Rides and Concessions

Trick or Treat! Venture out to Wildwood Park & Zoo on Saturday, Oct. 14 for treats, games, and of course, to see the animals.

Taking place from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., youngsters and their families can dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes for four hours of fun. From pumpkins to train rides, to candy and concessions, fun can be found at every exhibit. Cost is $5 per family and all proceeds benefit the zoo.

Brandi Reed, Treasurer for the Zoological Society, said that around 2,000 kids plus their parents came to the event last year. Expectations for this year are high with many fun activities in the works.

“Kids receive a passport in which they fill by visiting each Animal Exhibit for candy/toys and a stamp in their passport,” Reed said. “Kids can receive a free balloon creature created by very talented balloon artists. Families can visit the zoo store under the white tent, purchase food, play games, paint pumpkins, and ride in a small train (donations appreciated). When families leave Trick or Treating in the Zoo, each child receives a goodie bag for a completed passport.”

Some new additions this year include the chance to ride in a small train (with a small donation) to see the elk exhibit, big horned sheep, white-tailed deer, and bison.

“We have Shecky’s Snack Shack from Loyal, WI, to sell ice cream cones. They are famous for their soft serve flavors,” added Reed. “They will be selling caramel apple soft serve ice cream cones!”

With so many fun activities, kids are sure to enjoy this year’s trick or treating at the Wildwood zoo, which exists so visitors can view North American animals in person. Education, preservation and conservation are more important today than ever. Join the zoo team for this special trick or treating event and support their efforts to promote wildlife.
