Interested in history, and enjoy interacting with the community?
The North Wood County Historical Society is recruiting volunteer docents to lead tours through Upham Mansion. Those interested in becoming a tour guide will be taught enough of the history of the mansion and the time period to confidently lead tours through the home of former Wisconsin governor William Upham.
Students who need volunteer hours would also be good candidates for the position, or anyone wanting to give back to the community.
“The Upham Mansion is a marvelous piece of Marshfield history. It’s probably the biggest historical artifact for the city and it really is important,” said Donald Schnitzler, board of directors. “I hope that by participating in these classes, we can share the importance of the house, the family, and the history of the community.”
Potential recruits can either attend training on Saturdays from 12-2 until February 10th, or can arrange training with the mansion by calling or calling 715-387-3322 or by emailing [email protected].
