Both a tribute to a shared dream and the result of a lifelong passion for decorating, Three Sisters resale boutique is now open for business in downtown Marshfield.
Showcasing a thoughtful selection of fashionable clothes, antiques, furniture, art and much more, the boutique is owned and operated by Nicole Ledin, originally of Spencer and recently relocated from Georgia.
For her, owning the store is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. “It’s the only thing I’d ever thought I’d be good at,” she said. Always receiving compliments for her home decor from the first time she had her own place, Ledin turned her talents for interior decorating, a childhood of searching for great deals at garage sales, as well as a strong background in customer service, to the business.
It was a dream she shared with her eldest daughter, Cierra Hardrath, who would have turned 22 in April. Hardrath was shot and killed in January by her longtime boyfriend and fiance, who had just spent the holidays with the family and had never exhibited signs of violence before.
The family, including husband Tom and youngest daughters Serina Grindeland, 17, and Savannah Grindeland, 13, looked for ways to tribute Cierra. “We’ll never move on from her loss, all we can do is keep moving forward,” said Ledin.
Originally called Cierra’s, Three Sisters became a way for the family to bond together and move forward with purpose. “This is so much more than about her. This has become a continuation of life for the rest of us who are left here without her,” explained Ledin. “We can celebrate her and move on at the same time.”
She credits the incredible support of family and friends with making the store a reality. While a few items are consignments, most of the inventory comes from their homes throughout the years and each item has its own memory. “That’s all I want, is to offer things that people are going to love and cherish just as much as I have,” said Ledin. “I just want them to find something they’ll take home and love…Everybody’s got something that they really cherish and appreciate.”
The goal of the layout is to provide quality over quantity to keep the shopping experience from being overwhelming and prices affordable, with items as low as $3. One can find brand names at lower prices, and everything is in good condition. “Our motto would be ‘upscaling your resaling experience’,” said Ledin.
There is some men’s clothing available, and the store is always looking for more. Her daughters will also be selling artwork. As Cierra was a lifelong lover of horses, the family plans to benefit animal-related causes in her memory.
Stop by Three Sisters at 139 S. Central Avenue Tuesdays through Saturday from 9-5 p.m (Thursdays until 7:30). Visit the boutique’s Facebook page for additional info.
