Explore Marshfield Neighbors – Stratford Heritage Days

Celebrate with Stratford, Wisconsin this weekend as Marshfield’s neighbor to the north commemorates 125 years of history at Stratford Heritage Days.

The festivities begin bright and early this Friday, June 10 with the Dairy Breakfast at the VFW Clubhouse. Then follows a weekend full of music, entertainment, and activities for all ages.

Proceeds from the event stay local, benefiting Stratford Firefighters, Stratford Area Chamber of Commerce, Stratford Lions Club, and Stratford VFW.

“It’s all about helping out your community, because all the money raised stays in town and the four clubs that are involved, they in turn use that to give back to the community through projects, scholarships, and the various things they do around town,” said Amanda Krautkramer, event chairperson.

Though officially in the books as the 28th annual Stratford Heritage Days, the event has a history extending back further, when it was known as “Lumberjack Days.” In the past few decades, the event has grown into the grand celebration it is today.

Meant as a cultural festival, each of the 28 years has been dedicated to a different cultural facet, with last year’s event being Scandinavian culture.

“The big thing this year is we are celebrating Startford’s 125th,” said Krautkramer. “Everything is focused on Stratford.”

There is something for every age at this year’s Heritage Days.

“As we do every year, this year we have a traditional carnival. We’re having fireworks, we have a car show, the lumberjack show (with an interactive part where anybody can go out and try the log rolls), rc car racing, a country band on friday night, two rock bands on Saturday, really great food..There is just so much going on,” said Krautkramer. “It is just a great community event with a lot of great things. And there’s a parade- who doesn’t love a parade?”
