Common Ground, taking place Sept 17 in Stratford, is driven by the Eau Pleine Partnership for Integrated Conservation (EPPIC). The watershed group, based in western Marathon County in the Eau Pleine Watershed, united in 2017 to address water and soil resource concerns and find solutions. Its members are farmers, lake stewards, natural resource organizations, equipment dealers, agronomists, and others.

“For generations, North-Central Wisconsin has boasted pristine natural resources, vibrant communities, and a deeply rooted culture of farming,” the group said. “However, those very features that have historically been the strength of the region have begun to show vulnerabilities, and are growing increasingly at odds. People have become divided over the soil and water that we all depend on.”

The event will go out into the field to showcase various conservation practices and provides a chance for stakeholders who have never sat at the same table to network and unite on “Common Ground.”
