Spencer Police Department will be hosting “Kick Loose for a K9,” a fundraiser benefiting the new K9 program.
On Friday, September 28, food and music will start at 5 p.m. on LaSalle Street in downtown Spencer. Boogie and the Yo-yo’z will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee for this event, open only for those 21 and over. Raffle tickets will be sold for a TORO Zero Turn Mower 42″ – 25.5 hp.
So far about $35,000 has been raised local businesses and organizations toward the purchase of a K9 since the initiative began in February, said Police Chief Shawn Bauer. “We want to use it to maintain a safe community and stop drug trafficking,” he said.
The department would like to have the K9 be in service by summer 2019. “We invite everyone to come down and support a good cause,” Bauer said.
