Run Your Nutz Off – Marshfield
An event that raises funds for a different cause each year, Run Your Nutz Off (RYNO) was established by Nutz Deep restaurant in 2012 as a fun way to help various people in need throughout the community.
“Our first recipient was Robert Saba, an employee of ours who died suddenly from a brain aneurysm,” said Ann Dieringer, Marketing and Promotions Coordinator. “We wanted a way that we could help his family with the unexpected medical and funeral costs that they endured after he died.”
Now in its 4th year, the event has raised more than $40,000 for local families. On Saturday, August 20, RYNO is hoping to make a big impact on the Jinsky family, whose daughter Pella was born in May 2015 profound/deaf bilaterally and with brain complications causing developmental delays.
Currently, Pella is receiving care through Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, with a scheduled surgery date of July 14 and activation date of August 12 for cochlear implants. After that, Pella will be able to start developing speech, listening, hearing, and language patterns, as well as hear the voices of her siblings, parents, and dogs for the first time.
Pella’s family hopes to raise awareness and educate others about this process and empower other families whose children suffer from congenital hearing loss and become strong advocates for them. Funds raised from RYNO will help Pella and her family with the financial costs of her medical condition, as well as help them with the mission of helping others.
“RYNO grows each year in participants, donations and volunteers, and we try to add something new to the event to make it bigger and better,” said Dieringer. “New this year will be activities for all ages including bounce houses, a petting zoo, face painting, and for the first time the 5k portion of the event will be professionally timed.
For those not wanting to run, back by popular demand is “Shake It,” a 2-hour Zumba style dance event with the area’s leading dance fitness instructors, including Sazama Fitness.
Also returning are silent auctions and drawings.
