Rozellville Summer Shindig Returns in August

Save the Date, Entrants Welcome

Mark your calendar for the Rozellville Summer Shindig! Being held on August 12th, 2017, this fun filled day is packed with activities for the entire family. Whether you like live music, car or craft shows, Baggo tournaments or petting zoos, all can be found on this day at the Rozellville Lions Park. Food stands and a beer tent will offer nourishment and refreshments throughout the day.

Marking the second year of existence, the Shindig is a fundraiser for the Rozellville Lions Club. Proceeds from the day will be used to update and maintain the town’s ball field as well as provide support to people with medical needs. Troy Boudreau is part of the event organization team and said this is a great fundraiser for the Lions Club and helps them make a difference in the community.

“This is a general fundraiser for the Rozellville Lions Club.  The Lions Club has been actively involved in making a difference in the small community of Rozellville. One of their main goals is updating and maintenance of the playground equipment and ball field. They also provide financial support to families with serious health conditions, fruit baskets for the elderly and disabled during the holiday season, Wisconsin Lions Camp, scholarship programs, measles & vitamin E programs, diabetes research programs, leader dog program, Lions eye bank, medical equipment loan closet, hearing aids programs and more,” said Boudreau.

The abundance of overlapping activities can be found easily in the tiny community. A craft show will get the day started at 9:00 am and go until 3:00 pm. Local artists will be able to display and sell their homemade items during this time.

At 10:00 am, the car and tractor show will feature many classics and antiques. Entry fee is $5 per vehicle with cash prizes and trophies awarded to those with the best rides at 2:30.
For those into outdoor games, the Baggo tournament starts at 11:00 am with a Speed Bag tournament to follow. There is a $20 entry fee for Baggo participants and $10 for those into the Speed Bag competition. Cash prizes will be awarded for Baggo and Gift Certificates for Speed Bag winners.

Also starting at 11:00 am are a variety of youth activities as well as a petting zoo.
At 6:00 pm, the “Raise the Mic” singing contest begins. Limited to those 18 and older, the first 10 applicants will be accepted with the winner receiving a $20 cash prize.
Live music can be heard throughout the day with The Balsam Road Ramblers starting at 11:00 am, Hayes Boys from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Jerry Schmitt & the 100 Miles Band topping off the night beginning at 7:30 pm.

Boudreau added that this is a day of fun for all ages to enjoy. “There is so much variety at this event, people should come and expect to have a great time regardless of age or interests – the event will have a little bit of something for everyone!”

These events are offered due to support from sponsors. Contributions make it possible to have free activities for children to partake in. A $50 or more donation will be displayed on a banner at Lions events throughout the year. To contribute, contact Beth at 715-650-0086.
