RiverEdge Hosts Winter Activities, Winterfest on February 18
Golf course and winter don’t seem like the most natural combination. Surprisingly, locally there is a golf course that thrives in both the sunshine and snowy days.
RiverEdge Golf Course, 10191 Mill Creek Drive, is now offering a variety of winter activities.
“New this year, we have regularly groomed trails throughout our golf course which can be used for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and fat tire bike racing,” said owner and banquet manager Jill Holm.
Not only can winter sports lovers partake in the activities at RiverEdge, they can also refuel after or during their adventures.
“Our lower level bar is open at 11am Thursday – Sunday where homemade pizza or a bowl of hot soup is available,” Holm said.
For those looking for some affordable fun, this is a great option. There is no direct cost, but donations are accepted near the parking lot. Suggested donation is daily $5 or $25 for a season pass.
This new option all came about simply because owners are receptive to customer feedback that expressed a desire for the winter choices.
“We groom trails for our annual WinterFest event that is held each February. We received feedback that it would be nice to have the opportunity to utilize the trails throughout the winter months when the weather allowed. Because of the many inquiries, we decided to maintain the trails throughout the winter,” she said.
Speaking of WInterFest, RiverEdge will be hosting it again this year.
“Our 4th annual WinterFest will be held on Saturday, February 18th which will benefit our Marshfield Area United Way. This event includes a FREE 400 meter race for children under the age of 12 and Cross Country Skiing, Fat Tire Bike and Snowshoe racing. The event kicks off at 12pm with awards to follow. Live entertainment will start at 3 by G Man, Elated Sun and finishing up with the Big Deeks who are set to hit the stage at 8.,” Holm said.
Another upcoming winter event that RiverEdge will be hosting is the Snow Shoe Event for Badger State Games on Sunday, January 29th.
Whether it is for one of the special events or just to partake in the winter activities, Holm thinks it’s a great choice for some family fun.
“There are so few outdoor winter activities that a family can do together. Regardless of age, this is a fun way to spend time together outdoors,” she said.
And if nothing else, she said, the surroundings are great.
“It is a beautiful location and appealing to both someone new to the sport or someone looking for a challenge,” Holm said.
For those that would like to participate but don’t own the correct equipment, the Sports Den, 1202 S. Central Ave., offers winter rental equipment. Their rates are:
