Racing Event Held in Memory of Bev Aschenbrenner

For the third year, a special racing event will return to the Marshfield Motor Speedway in memory of Beverly “Bev” Aschenbrenner.

TUNDRA Super Late Models will again provide a great show on June 8. “TUNDRA averages are 30 late models each show and provides some of the best side by side racing in any series in the state. The event also is a great opportunity to reflect on all the time and energy mom dedicated to local stock car racing,” said Brandon Aschenbrenner, Bev’s son.

From Stratford, Bev passed away on June 6, 2016 after another vehicle struck her car on HWY 97 just days before her 70th birthday and shortly after celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary. Together with her husband she spent much of her free time at the track, making the event a fitting tribute to her memory.

“The first year saw many challenges at the track itself, but the racing was great. Last year was an awesome, almost perfect event,” said Brandon, who announces at Marshfield Motor Speedway, State Park Speedway, and SK Speedway every week and co-hosts a racing results radio show on Monday nights. “Having the TUNDRA series back will again prove to be a successful venture, and adding the Midwest Compact Series, Bandits and 2-man cruisers will add just that much more excitement!”

Besides racing, Bev was active in running the little league baseball program in Stratford for 40 years and at her church, Zion Lutheran.

“This event does for sure brings a great amount of family members together and it’s really great to see the support from everyone involved,” Brandon said.

Racing will begin at 6 p.m. at the track.
