The “dumpster puppies” are now the “cheese puppies.”
Eight newborn puppies were discovered in a dumpster on Feb. 28 and taken to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, where they are now being fostered. A ninth puppy and the mother dog were later recovered.
“How appropriate that our WISCONSIN puppies who made international news have CHEESE-related names!” the pet shelter wrote on its Facebook page, where it has regularly provided updates on the puppies.
Adoption applications can be submitted after April 11 for the newly-named Fontina, Feta, Swiss, Gouda, Brie, Cheddar, Colby, Blue, and Muenster. (Australian Shepherd/Lab Mix)
