PreventionGenetics to Host Art Show
PreventionGenetics’ upcoming art show is one of the ways the company supports the community and the non-scientific interests of employees.
“PreventionGenetics is a company that supports many non-work related interests of its employees. This show was created to use artistic talents of employees, their friends, and their family to promote and support the arts within the Marshfield community,” said event organizer Sarah Pritzl, Assistant Laboratory Manager at PreventionGenetics.
This show, on Saturday, October 15 will be the third time the company has hosted the show.
Pritzl is excited for the show and how it is evolving.
“I have been a part of this show for the three years it has been around and so have a few others. I get excited to see their progression from year to year. I also love bringing family and friends together for some fun,” she said.
Since there is no admission to the event, it is very cost effective for families.
“There is no admission cost. Music is free to listen to and so are a few activities. Other activities do cost money, but all money made will be given to Chestnut Center who is a major venue for many of the art and music related activities in the community. They are a major part in making this show a success,” Pritzl said.
The artwork at the show will be from a range of artists from students to semi-professionals and will include paintings, drawings, graphic artwork, and photography.
Not only will there be artwork on display, there will be other activities.
“The whole family is welcome! The music is family friendly and so are the activities. There will be self-guided canvas painting for adults, a fun craft activity for the children, plus other small activities,” she said.
Any proceeds from the activities or donations will be donated to the Chestnut Center for the Arts. The specific sales of art will go directly to the artists.
“Although it is not the main purpose of the show, we are raising money to support arts in the community of Marshfield. Chestnut Center will receive any donations given to us for activities that take place at the show,” Pritzl said.
She is hoping community members and family make it out to the show and really enjoy themselves and the art that is displayed.
“Since it is only the third year of the show, we are still figuring out how to make it as successful as possible. Running an art show is not a genetics company’s forte and there is a lot to learn with hosting a show like this. With each year, new people and ideas get incorporated into the show. Every year has been great, but we hope each year gets bigger and better,” she said.
“The show will be successful if artists and musicians at the show get to share their talents with the community and attendees have fun at the event,” Pritzl said.
