Oven Above The Pub

Explore Marshfield – Oven Above The Pub

West 14th Restaurant, located in the Parkin Place building above Blue Heron Brew Pub, will soon have a new name, look, and menu. Transitioning from fine dining into a more casual setting, the new Oven Above The Pub restaurant will feature new menu items and a whole new dining experience for Marshfield residents.

“All organizations need to keep current on upcoming trends,” said Danielle Nystrom, manager. “We are excited to introduce something that has become a high demand in the restaurant industry.”

Wood fired ovens are becoming more popular in the restaurant industry and the Brew Pub wanted to be a part of that.

Candy-apple red in color, the oven was custom-made in California and can be heated by gas or wood. Weighing about 5,800 pounds, it was lifted into the restaurant by a crane through the upstairs doors.

“It has limitless opportunities of what it can bake and we are excited to experiment,” said Nystrom.

The oven is unique to Marshfield and offers something new and exciting to try.

“We will serve Small Plates, Greens & Grains, Entrees, and Pan De Forno (bread from the oven/flatbreads),” said Nystrom. “There will also be an ‘open kitchen’ concept, where guests can watch their food being created. A new bar area is being constructed around the oven for viewing.”

Though the name won’t be on the sign outside, West 14th will still exist, but only as the restaurant’s catering and events arm. Private rooms will still be available upstairs for parties, as will the main dining room for special events.

“The name West 14th is changing to ‘the oven above the pub’, and will be considered a part of the Brew Pub now,” explained Nystrom. “However, guests can only order the oven menu upstairs & the original Brew Pub menu downstairs.”

The Oven Above The Pub is scheduled to open Monday, September 12th, with a special grand opening celebration set to take place in late October.
