Main Street Marshfield Business Thankful to Community
This month, Off The Wall celebrates twenty years in downtown Marshfield. Opened by Jody and Brenda Frahmann in July of 1997 in a 600 sq/ft space on North Central Ave, this space was quickly outgrown and the business moved to the historic 1400 Sq/ft Connor building on West 4th street in 1999.
To take advantage of traffic and visibility, the business moved to their current location in January of 2013 located at 148 S Central Ave.
“We have now found our permanent home and couldn’t be happier,” said Jody.
Custom framing everything from graduation and wedding pictures to cross-stitches, Off The Wall specializes in collage and specialty cut mats and are the only area frame shop to have a computerized mat cutting system.
“We cut and join 95% of our custom frames to ensure quality,” said Jody. “We also offer next day framing on stock frames and mats.”
Offering the largest selection of mats and frames in the area, they also have ready-made and sectional frames, pre-cut mats, prints, and posters.
Items they have framed include sports jerseys, prints and collectibles, military medals, flags, uniforms, original works and limited edition prints, family portraits, posters and puzzles, student artwork from pre-k through college, and school awards and medals.
Along with framing, they also do laser engraving and sublimation printing.
The couple’s favorite part of the job is seeing all the unique items their customers have had framed over the last twenty years.
“We have framed many unique pieces over the last 20 years and have met some wonderful people with some very interesting stories,” said Jody. “We have customers that have since moved away, but continue to drive or send their pieces to us to frame. It is that special bond that we have with our customers that keeps us framing.”
Frahmann’s enjoy working in a small community as it allows them to more easily develop a personal relationship with their customers. They also value being in the downtown.
“Our downtown location gives us great exposure in both vehicle and foot traffic,” said Jody, whose advice to potential business owners is to find a great location.
“If you have to move your business because of growth or other factors, research potential locations. A poor location can damage or destroy your business,” he said.
Along with growing Off The Wall, the couple has also enjoyed growing their family alongside the business.
“Our two children grew up at Off The Wall, coming to the store after school every day,” said Jody. “Now they are both involved in the business, Mariah as an office and customer assistant and Jordan as our IT department.”
Goals for the future include continuing to serve Marshfield and the surrounding communities by offering the highest quality framing and service.
