Art and Poetry Combine in “The Journey I & II”
Lac du Flambeau artist Christine Alfery joins with 22 Wisconsin poets to present “The Journey I & II”, a collaborative art and poetry exhibition at New Visions Gallery June 5-23. An opening reception will be held Sunday, June 4 from 1-3 PM and will include poetry readings and an artist question and answer session. The reception is free and open to the public; complimentary refreshments will be provided.
According to Alfery:
“The logic behind this project is to stimulate, strain and surpass a ‘normal’ explanation of how things can be understood by linking words and images to compound a sense of wonder and discovery for both the word and the image. How we read, how we see is unique and original to our independent, individual selves. This series of works celebrates this independence and uniqueness and at the same time offers a collective familiarity with images and words allowing the viewer to explore the effect words have on images and the effect images have on words and at the same time think differently about image and word.”
School and community group tours are available for this exhibit. Interested parties should contact New Visions Gallery to schedule a date and time.
“The Journey I & II” can be viewed Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at New Visions Gallery, located in the main lobby of Marshfield Clinic, 1000 North Oak Avenue, Marshfield.
