Baltus Oil Company was the first company to bring a car wash service to Marshfield, in 1962. Now, they are revolutionizing the car wash again with the introduction of their newly opened Express Wash & Detail center.
Designed as a “tunnel wash” instead of a “bay wash,” more than one car will be able to drive through the wash at one time, resulting in shorter wait times. Each wash takes just a few minutes.
“This is a whole new concept in washing vehicles, and is the first of its kind in the Marshfield area,” said owner John Baltus. “Now you’ll be able to experience the best car or pickup truck wash available today, and get it done in just a few minutes. This new express wash will clean your vehicle using the highest quality, state-of-the-art soft cloth, soaps, and waxes available in the industry today.”
With typical automatic washes at most stores, the customer drives into a wash bay, parks the vehicle, and the wash equipment rotates around the car, and performs a series of pre-soak, wash, wax, and dry cycles. That process can take six to fifteen minutes long, depending on the wash package. In the new Express Wash, the car will be guided on a conveyor, washing, waxing, and drying the car as it travels through the wash, thus saving a significant amount of time, while still giving superior wash results.
A shift from their previous “full service” model, customers will instead have the option of monthly packages that allow for endless washes, with the lowest monthly package set at $19.99/month. An electronic reader placed on the inside of the windshield will automatically open the car wash doors for these monthly subscribers.
“That’s about 66 cents per car wash,” said Baltus. “Our customers will be able to get the best wash in town, and get the best price per wash we’ve ever offered. And the icing on the cake will be that our customers won’t have to endure long wait times to wash their vehicles.”
Baltus said that by making the car washes more affordable, people have the option of using that savings in the new detail center. Free use of vacuums will be available, and the company has expanded its detailing and interior cleaning options, as well.
“We’ll perform services from pet hair removal and vacuuming, to complete interior/exterior detail services including floor and upholstery shampooing, engine cleaning, exterior hand polish, and boat and motorcycle cleaning,” said Baltus.
The Car Wash will be open year-round, due to its unique design that prevents the car wash doors from freezing. Customers will then have the option to determine whether they feel the weather is warm enough for a wash.
With a long history of washing cars in the community, Baltus is excited for again moving Marshfield into the future with this new technology.
