Longtime Family Band Celebrates Scottish Heritage

MPK Christian Celtic Band takes the stage again at the Chestnut Center for the Arts for its annual Christmas concert. Listen to traditional Scottish fiddle tunes that will get your feet tapping, along with Irish music. There will be some Highland dancing and a few history lessons.

“They’re a really fun band,” said Executive Director Adam Smrcka. “It’s a very family-friendly concert.”

The family band has played music together for over ten years which celebrates their Scottish heritage. The band wears the Macneil tartan of their heritage, playing a mix of Celtic-style music and 18th century Scottish fiddle tunes.

One member recently won the title of 2017 National Scottish Fiddle Champion USA at Edinboro PA in the Scottish F.I.R.E. sanctioned National Scottish Fiddle Competition.

The concert takes place Sunday, December 10 from 4-6 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at the door. Children 12 and under get free admission.
