It’s almost Mother’s Day. And if you are from Marshfield, Mother’s Day often means attending the Mother’s Day Art Fair which is hosted every Mother’s Day (for over 50 years!) at the Marshfield High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you are able to squeeze the art fair into your Mother’s Day plans of sleeping in (we can dream, right?), brunches, visiting grandmothers and other important moms in your life, it is a fun activity for the whole family.

One of the artists participating this year is Daniel Vidaillet with his SilverFolk by Dan. He is a local artist that actually remembers attending the event himself as a child.

“When I was growing up, coming to the art fair on Mother’s Day was one of our family traditions. In fact, some of my very first memories are walking around with my brother and sister trying to find our Mom a Mother’s Day gift! I never could have imagined that one day I would be one of the participating artists,” his said.

This is Vidaillet’s first year displaying his unique artwork at the event.

“I transform kitchen utensils into unique handmade stainless steel sculptures. I love the challenge of capturing emotion and movement in my pieces. I use stainless steel because I love its elegant simplicity and permanency,” he said.

He has been using stainless steel as a medium for his pieces for about a year and a half and said his main inspiration is his family.

“I’m most inspired by my family, particularly my wife and 2 sons who I love more than anything in the world! So, I find myself making family portraits to capture memories that I want to remember forever, like flying a kite with my six year old son Blake or walking around with my two year old son Jackson on my shoulders,” he said.

Vidaillet loves sharing his work with customers because of the joy the pieces bring them.

“I have had many customers tell me how much happiness they derive from my pieces. They have said how my sculptures capture memories they love remembering,” he said.

“I would like to thank New Visions (who organizes the event) for giving me the opportunity to participate in this celebration of the arts and to be featured among such talented artists,” he said.

Vidaillet thinks it is wonderful event to attend to support both artists and mother alike!

“The art fair is a great event because it not only supports local talent, but brings families together to celebrate all of the wonderful, hardworking and loving mothers out there, like my wife, Mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister,” he said.
