Marshfield “Standing in Solidarity” Event

Peaceful Gathering a Response to Charlottesville Events

This past weekend, hate groups and domestic terrorists gathered in Charlottesville, VA to spread a hateful message of white supremacy, fascism, anti-Semitism, and bigotry (More at Indivisible). This rally of white nationalists become violent against counter protesters on the streets, involving attacks and resulting in at least one death.

In response, communities throughout the nation are organizing peaceful events to demonstrate their opposition to racism, hate, bigotry, and white supremacy.

On Tuesday from 7:00-7:30pm, join other Marshfield area citizens as they too “Stand in Solidarity.” (Find the Facebook event here.)

According to organizer Kathleen Rulka, the purpose of the gathering is to serve as a “collective response to the tragic events of Charlottesville.”

Everyone in the Marshfield area is invited and encouraged to attend. There will be no speakers and no signs, just thirty minutes of silence to demonstrate that Marshfield Stands in Solidarity with those across the Nation.

“It’s coming together as a community to acknowledge our grief over the events in Charlottesville,” said Rulka. “A tangible sign that there is no place for hatred in our community.”

The event will take place at Columbia Park (201 W Arnold St) in Marshfield.
