Marshfield Noon Rotary to Host Wine Sampling Fundraiser

Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Fundraising Event Supports Projects

“Wine, Cheese & Chocolate: Uncork the Spirit of Rotary” is the first event of its kind to be sponsored by the Marshfield Noon Rotary, with the intent of raising spirits while raising funds to support work to benefit people locally and around the world.

“The Marshfield Noon Rotary Club is involved in helping people,” said Club President Rich Chronquist, “and this inaugural event will help us continue the good work our members do while people have fun and build a festive sense of community.”

The event is set for 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at River Edge Country Club, Marshfield. The evening includes wine samples, desserts and hor d’oeuvres, a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

Marty Chy, manager of Festival Foods, is working with his staff to choose wines for tasting that will please discriminating palates; Nasonville Dairy will provide an array of cheeses to be sampled along with the wines, and Wenzel Farms products will be featured.

Diane Meissner, Noon Rotary Club member since 2006 and owner/manager of High Street Salon & Travel, serves as the core committee chair.

“Our goal is to raise funds to support projects locally and abroad to help as many people as possible,” Meissner said. “By participating, our community can be invested in the work Rotary does to make the Marshfield area a better place to live and in projects we’re invested in to help communities in other parts of the world.

“We’re hoping this becomes an annual signature fund-raising event since needs in our community will continue, as they will in other communities around the world.”

Rotary is a global network, more than 110 years old and composed of 1.2 million people, united to create change around the globe and in local communities. Members take action on sustainable projects from fighting disease to literacy, peace, clean water, sanitation, hygiene and growing local economies.

Local projects currently include Rotary Winter Wonderland, an inbound student from Poland and Japan, an outbound student to France, annual high school scholarships, “Persons in Need” trust, Marshfield Civic Band, trail and walkway improvements at Tiny Tigers Intergenerational Center, spring park clean-up, walk-to-school project and more.

International projects have included Polio Plus, a world-wide effort to eliminate polio; India initiatives like “School on Wheels,” a new dental chair and Dr. Tom Nikolai’s trip to administer vaccinations; Haiti shelter boxes; home building in St. Lucia; a playground in Romania; and the soy cow/bakery in Peru.

Tickets are $50 each and available at Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., High Street Salon & Travel, from club members or by clicking on this website.
