Marshfield Area Community Foundation: Marshfield Area Pet Shelter

The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter began its work in September 2011. MAPS is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals in the greater Marshfield area. The mission is simple, yet profound: assist the community with animal welfare needs.

This includes shelter care for needy animals throughout the area, reuniting pets with their owners, and providing services to caring individuals who already own or want to adopt companion animals.

The need is clear: on average, Marshfield Animal Control brings in more than 300 stray
animals annually. This does not include any pet surrenders which officers cannot accept. Other municipalities are requesting animal control services from MAPS, but their current facility cannot accommodate all the incoming animals,

MAPS is a humane option that never existed in Marshfield before, and perhaps most importantly it is sustainable and a lasting model. The total cost of the new shelter is approximately $1.2 million, which includes an endowment that will be held at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation to offset future repair and maintenance. Please consider making a donation to the pet shelter.

MAPS is another addition to MACF’s long list of contributions to the community, which include Wildwood Station, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, Hackman Field, the Youth Baseball fields, Weber Park, Hamus Park, Hardacre Park, Braem Park Disk Golf, the Skate Park, Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center, the ACE Academy, Griese Park, and many, many more.

A tax exempt, non-profit organization, MACF uses public support to better connect those with a cause in mind to its completion while taking care of administrative tasks, and continues to establish permanent, named funds for public benefit.
