1 Out of 7 Kids in Marshfield Live in Poverty
Many non-profits exist in Marshfield to help make sure people have food and shelter. But some people are falling through the cracks. We are seeing alarming changes here in Marshfield.
Vital Signs reports on the socioeconomic health of Marshfield. The number of children who qualify for free or reduced lunches is increasing; currently there are over 1300 kids who need help. We know we have over 63 homeless children. As our median income continued to decline, declining 14% over the last five years, 1 out of every 7 children right here in Marshfield is living in poverty. 23% of our 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students reported that they did not have enough food to eat within the last 30 days.
In honor of our 20th Anniversary in 2013, we undertook a new project. We wanted to ensure that children have a warm winter coat, boots, mittens, snow pants and the things all students need to be successful. Over the last five years, we have given out new or gently used coats, boots, snow pants, and mittens to about 2000 children. Thanks to your generous donations we were able to help the Nutrition on Weekend program through the Marshfield United Way. The need has grown by leaps and bounds for this service

Keep Kids Warm is another addition to MACF’s long list of contributions to the community, which include Wildwood Station, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, Hackman Field, the Youth Baseball fields, Weber Park, Hamus Park, Hardacre Park, Braem Park Disk Golf, the Skate Park, Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center, the ACE Academy, Griese Park, and many, many more.
A tax exempt, non-profit organization, MACF uses public support to better connect those with a cause in mind to its completion while taking care of administrative tasks, and continues to establish permanent, named funds for public benefit.
